'They finally believed': Dani Alves rape victim speaks out after 4-year sentence for Barca legend

Dani Alves' rape victim is pleased with the four-and-half-year sentence handed out to the Barcelona legend.

"They have finally believed me. For me this is a personal victory," the victim said upon hearing the sentence.

Earlier during the hearing, the victim had said, "I didn't want to report it because they wouldn't believe me."

Alves admitted he had sexual intercourse with the victim at a nightclub in Barcelona a few days after the World Cup in Brazil where he appeared as the oldest outfield player.

The victim however accused the Brazilian of raping her after hitting her and putting her hands on his genitals.

Alves was asked to pay a compensation of €150,000 which was immediately paid by Neymar's father, sources say. However, Alves' lawyer simply said "We will appeal" when asked about the final judgement.

The 40-year-old has since been divorced by his wife over the saga.
